The Year of the Toymaker

 

   

The National Miniatures Trust Museum is celebrating toymakers in miniature. 

 

In partnership with the MSAT miniDOLLLIST, the Museum will featuring a number of stunning dolls by renowned artists.  The Theme is
The doll pieces being created include Santa and Mrs. Claus, a Gepetto/ puppeter, Rag Doll Granny and Tessa the Teddy Bear Lady. All pieces will portray dolls either making or playing with toys. Miniatures toys will also be showcased. Included in these are stick ponies, music boxes and a tiny Shirley Temple doll complete with her trunk.
 

 
The new Trust museum’s permanent exhibits include a substantial collection of miniatures from Ms. Francis Light and Ms. Mary Fisher.
Among the featured artists and pieces include in the Trust Museum collection are:

• Federal Entrance Hall, c. 1790 by Peter Kendall
• Numerous miniatures in sterling by Pete Acquisto.
 

The is the second season for the Trust Museum, which occupies a historic farmhouse on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum. The Gilmore has more than 200 extraordinary vehicles, including vintage Packards, Duesenbergs, and a 1948 Tucker. The Classic Car Club of America, the Pierce-Arrow Foundation and the Tucker Historical Library are all housed on the Gilmore grounds. The Gilmore attracts more than 40,000 visitors annually, many of whom Gilmore and Trust officials believe will appreciate the opportunity also to visit a historic miniatures exhibit.

The National Miniatures Trust, a non-profit, charitable organization, was formed in 2003 by a group of dedicated miniaturists looking for ways to strengthen the miniatures community. The Trust is dedicated to building a vibrant, cohesive miniatures community and fostering its growth through coordination of resources, public awareness and education.
